FasterBuild— C++ Architecture, Build Optimization & Development Tools by Mouaadh KELLAL
C++ projects up to 1M LOC
I help C++ teams improve architecture, cut build times and deliver faster.
Feature deadlines always win over fixing architecture — even when everyone knows the system is slowing down. I bring focused expertise, free from day-to-day sprint pressure, to eliminate the bottlenecks holding your team back.

"Within weeks of Mouaadh joining, the delivery pace picked up and the bugs that caused run failures became increasingly rare. The software that was once a bottleneck now enabled other teams to move faster."
Your Team Already Feels the Friction
The system slows down gradually. By the time it's obvious, it's already the new normal.
Broken Flow State
A multi-minute incremental build guarantees a developer opens Slack or walks away. You aren't just losing compile time — you're losing hours of deep work to context switching.
Fear of Refactoring
When a small change means navigating complex dependencies and waiting on a long build, developers stop refactoring. They write workarounds instead, and push straight to CI. The local feedback loop is dead.
Brain Drain & Quality Decay
Great engineers thrive on momentum. If every task is an uphill battle against the system, your best people move on. You don't just lose hours — you lose the talent that could have turned things around.
AI Accelerated Quicksand
Your team is using AI to write code faster. In a tangled system, that's accumulating technical debt faster. What feels like productivity taking off is actually your team sinking deeper.
Estimate Your Savings
Build time is the tip of the system-friction iceberg

How I Can Help
System Diagnostic Audit
Baseline Analysis & Roadmap
5–8 Business Days - Fixed Fee- Architectural Analysis: Understanding your business domain, code base structure and identifying key issues and bottlenecks.
- Build Profiling & Workflow Analysis: Establishing build performance baselines using trace profiling and team feedback, reviewing your developer environment & tools, CI/CD pipelines and dependencies.
- Cost & Impact Report: Quantified estimate of developer hours and CI compute costs lost to slow builds.
- Actionable Roadmap: Scoped project plan for architectural improvements, build system optimizations along with estimated implementation effort for each recommendation.
The audit cost is fully credited toward the implementation phase if we move forward.
System Improvement Project
Asynchronous Implementation
3–12 Weeks – Value-based fixed fee- Codebase refactoring & Build Optimization: Improving physical and logical code design (interfaces, forward declarations), modernizing CMake & build configurations and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
- Deterministic Dependency Management: Deploying modern C++ package managers and containerized environments to enforce reproducible builds and enable rapid developer onboarding.
- Independent Execution: Operating parallel to your active sprints without disrupting feature delivery.
- Knowledge Transfer & Handoff: Comprehensive documentation and ownership transfer for your team, quantified review of post-optimization build metrics.
Ongoing Health Checks & Maintenance
Continuous support
Rolling retainer- Preventive Audits: Scheduled quarterly reviews to prevent architecture and build times from degrading as the codebase grows.
- Regression Fixes: Proactive identification and resolution of new bottlenecks.
- Ongoing Support: Dedicated access for your team for architecture guidance and support.
Beyond the Numbers
Eliminating system friction doesn't just save you money. It fundamentally changes your team culture and their capacity to deliver.
Development Timelines You Control
A well-structured system makes work more predictable. Isolated changes and fewer surprises mean more accurate estimates and reliable delivery timelines.
Your Best Engineers, Empowered
Clean boundaries and faster builds encourage ownership and experimentation. Your team can focus on what they do best — building your product.
Faster Onboarding, Better Retention
Engineers hit the ground running when their development environment is easy to set up and the codebase can be discovered in bite-sized modules. The daily experience is no longer a grind.
AI as a Multiplier
When the architecture is sound and iteration is fast, AI becomes a responsible option — a genuine multiplier of your team's capacity to write code without the risk of structural technical debt.
Case Studies
Production Robotics Platform for Life Sciences
Problem
The platform control software suffered from a fragmented structure - the result of a high-churn contractor team. It was characterized by massive core implementation files and inconsistent design. A rigid state machine using multi-threading for physical task parallelism created race-condition bugs and caused frequent failures, wasting expensive biological reagents and engineering time. The system required a 20-minute build time and forced a two-week iteration cycle which made progress slow and frustrating for downstream teams.
Approach
Analyzed the platform hardware and life science processes and remodeled software entities to clearly mirror the platform's functional capabilities. Introduced domain separation using interfaces, composition, and dependency injection. This decoupled components and enabled configurability across hardware variations. Finally, I incrementally dismantled the state machine and replaced it with a flexible, implementation-independent sequential flow using concurrency (boost fibers) to allow for efficient task scheduling without the complexity of multi-threading.

5G Telecommunications Software
Problem
Integration test full build times were around 40 minutes, with changes to core files frequently triggering full rebuilds. This caused high developer frustration and slow iteration cycles, ultimately discouraging the team from writing and contributing to the integration test suite.
Approach
Identified high-impact source files being repeatedly compiled and refactored them into a stable common library. Implemented Precompiled Headers (PCH) for commonly included headers to eliminate redundant processing and ensure more granular dependency tracking.

I'm a software architect and engineering leader with a passion for building software.
I spent 10 years building critical systems at scale, from designing and developing real-time 5G frameworks in C++ at Nokia, to leading robotics and web development teams at DNA Script.
I'm now helping C++ teams eliminate the friction I faced constantly in my career but rarely had time to address: architectural black boxes and slow build times. That's why I built FasterBuild.
I'm based in France and I work with teams across the EU, UK and US.
Diagnose Your System
System friction doesn't disappear on its own. In a short call, we'll assess whether your architecture, build times and development environment are holding your team back — and how much development velocity you could realistically recover.
